Comedian Blasphemy

For once – and I know this’ll come as a shock to regular readers – I disagree. For me, I just don’t find their stuff to be even vaguely amusing, let alone funny.
Gavin and Stacey? Not funny. Not an awful series, but really not funny.
Horne and Corden? Not even in the same country as funny. I’m not sure it’s even in the same continent as funny.
Appearances on Comic Relief? Frankly, I’ve had funnier enemas. Although they produced a similar amount of shit.
And their new film, Lesbian Vampire Killers? I’ll pass, thanks.
I know, in theory there’s the response of “Well, think you can do something better?”. And the answer is no, I don’t really think I can do anything better than their stuff. But the thing is, I don’t claim to be a writer of comedy anyway. If I did, I’d try to have something to show as an example of “this is better”. But I don’t, so I won’t.
I rather enjoy Gavin and Stacey but then I am Barry norn and bred.
That apart, I have to agree with you – I watched the first show of their series and wondered how it got commissioned while their contributions to Comic Relief especially compared very unfavourably to those of Armstrong & Miller and Mitchell & Webb.
“Kill them”.
“norn”? Bollocks.
I expect they are funny to 20-something male retards. And that’s all that actually matters for the UK media, because no one else watches TV or in fact exists. Therefore, they are funny
I’m a gavin & Stacey fan, but I think that’s down to the novelty of the storyline and the strength of ther so-called supporting actors (Ruth Jones, Rob Brydon, Alison Steadman and Larry lamb being the most notable in my opinion). As soon as you get the two of them on their own they’re shown up. I’ve tried Horne & Corden and it’s painful to watch.
And I’ve never even heard of them, so that proves Gert’s point I think.
