Hang on a minute lads, I’ve got a great idea…

Last year, the Royal Society of Chemistry issued a challenge to people to come up with methods of solving the problem at the end of the original Italian Job film, where the coach hangs over the cliff-edge, loaded with gold that they can’t get to.

The Telegraph today has a list of the shortlist top five solutions – which are pretty entertaining in themselves.

You’ve just got to love a competition that brings up so many armchair inventors/engineers with such a range of surreal solutions. Only in Britain, I suspect…
