Rep-tastic

Well, there we go. I’m now a car owner.

Talk about practical – it’s a Ford Mondeo, 2 litre turbo diesel, estate. All the standard bells and whistle, 56,000 miles. I know, it’s a pretty standard car, nothing glamourous, but at the end of the day, I want it to be able to get me from A-B repeatedly for the next couple of years. This thing should do that, and then some.

And I got it for the princely sum of £6,950, including 6 month’s road tax, 12 month’s MOT, and two new rear tyres.

I pick it up on Friday, and then we go off on holiday down to Devon in it. That should let us know if there’s anything wrong with it!

The Mondeo is a cracking car – has a reputation as a bit of a rep’s car, but it’s probably Ford’s best car – there’s pretty much nothing wrong with it, other than Ford salepeople being slimy cnuts. The Mondeo ST is a bloody brilliant car and the new Mondeo looks like being as good as a 3-series, except about half the price. Good choice 🙂

Cheers. Obviously I didn’t get the ST – I think the insurance would’ve made me cry. But at the same time, I managed to completely avoid the slimy scumwads at Ford dealerships, by using a local(ish) car warehouse-type place. Fantastic experience – I doubt I shall darken dealerships doors again…

I did check the current OTR price as opposed to what I’ve paid, though – and it’s £11000 cheaper. Fuckin’ ‘ell, as they say.

I thought about recommending a Mondeo (after all, I’ve had mine for four years now, plus another one for a couple of years before that) – but hey, “what do I know”, I thought.

Fair play to ya. A good, reliable car, and cheap for parts. Automatic or manual?
