Blackhawk
Posted: Sat 17 March, 2007 Filed under: Travel 4 Comments »Bizarre sight on the train journey home the other night – a bloody great Sikorsky Blackhawk helicopter, just hovering over the woods.
I know that we go through STANTA, (The Stanford Training Area) as well as having both RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath around – which also goes to explain the number of F15s flitting about the place and flying over the house, as well as Chinook helicopters and the like, but all the same, I think it was still the first time I’d seen a Blackhawk in use.
*shrug* I know, it’s of absolutely no interest to anyone else, but well, I thought it was cool. *grin*
How come you’ve got F15’s? You got a yank base down there?
Email me at work will ya lyle! Can’t find ur email on ere anywhere.
Yup, Lakenheath and Mildenhall(as mentioned in the post…), which are RAF bases used by USAF.
Blackhawks are nice. They just about sneak into that category of ‘things that look like they shouldn’t be able to fly’.
Of course the Vulcan is king of the things that shouldn’t be able to fly. (Been a while since I’ve seen one though, but then I gather they don’t fly any more…)
I dint spot any reference to any yank bases, (not being a yank base boffin) but Flops pm’d me to take the wee wee ….. which obviously was nice …. n u dint email me u **** :d
