*sigh*

Way back at the end of last year, I told the management people in the office that my PC’s network connection was knackered, and would simply die one day. What’d happened was that the network cable for my PC snakes across the floor by one of the windows in the office. So when clumsy motherfuckers people in the office close that window, for some godforsaken reason, they step on the network cable, and pull it out of the machine. Of course, because of the way it’s done, those “pulling out” actions have ended up breaking the network cable connection on the computer.
And, being a Dell, that network card isn’t just a slot-in unit, it’s part of the motherboard.
During the last week, while I was away, the network connection got pulled out again, and finally killed the socket on the computer. So I come back in today, and no connection at all. *sigh*
And, of course, there wasn’t a network card going spare. Hey, we only knew about this for 9 months. Why worry?
Anyway, following a journey back to Bracknell (Nowhere in Wokingham had a network card – weird, but true) for a whole £10 of network card, and the work PC is back on its feet.
But Jesus Christ, what a load of work for a poxy reason…
