Work, and Moving On
Posted: Wed 17 May, 2006 | Author: Lyle | Filed under: Thoughts, Work-related |2 Comments »Thanks to all the commenters over the last couple of days who’ve said “Jesus Christ, just move on. Now.”, or words to that effect. I’m working on it. Believe me, I’m working on it.
Part of that “working on it” was supposed to happen tomorrow, with an interview to be Lead Web Developer for a fucking huge company, based in Slough. Kind of cool. Only they’ve changed plans at the last minute, and now the interview will be first thing on Monday instead. Ah well – could be worse.
I’m vaguely confident of it, to be honest – I’ve had two interviews recently, and was offered one, but didn’t take it, and would’ve been offered the other one, if the company hadn’t decided that the requirements they’d asked for (which, they admitted to the agency, I fitted perfectly) weren’t actually the correct requirements, so they were going back to square one. (tossers)
But we’ll see – and I’ll write about it on Monday, you can be sure.
Also, yesterday, I took copies of the two emails I mentioned here, and had a meeting with the Chairman of the company, nominally Arsehole Boss’s boss. He seemed fairly shocked at the way things had been going, and it ended up with the entire web team having a meeting with Chairman, venting some issues, and getting a project manager installed between us and Arsehole Boss as some kind of filtering system for bullshit.
So we’ll see how that goes, starting today.
But if [fucking huge company] offer the job, I’m outta here. And I’m going to keep on looking anyway – I want out, but it doesn’t have to be right now if the job I’m going to isn’t right…
This is good to hear. And at least it was the whole team rather than just you which confirms that you’re not just having a “personality clash”. Power to the workers I say!
Indeed. However, I suspect Arsehole Boss’s perception of “Power to the Workers” involves a mains power lead, and introducing it to the groin of the workers…
