I have to confess, I find it extraordinarily difficult to have any sympathy for George Best. Yes, he was a talented footballer, but couldn’t handle the pressure/adulation/whatever. He’s had more chances to change than most, including a liver transplant.

Yet still he’s insisted on pissing it all away. And if he does recover from this latest hospitalisation, I can pretty much guarantee he’ll continue to piss it all away.

It’s sad to see someone doing that to themselves. But it’s also very hard to be sympathetic about it.
