Blackberry

Yeah, great, the technology can be useful, for continuing to get one’s email while on the move, but frankly I can only think of a few – very few – occasions where that’s actually necessary. Yes, I used my phone to get email while away in Ireland earlier this year, but that was because I was getting information about the job I’m now in. But I don’t need that functionality all the time.
People with Blackberrys are just addicted to them – they’ve been nicknamed “Crackberry” because their use can be so addictive – and it’s fascinating in some ways to watch people with the bloody things. Hell, they’ve even got their own section in the “technology security” warning on planes, “Please ensure your Blackberry is set to ‘Plane’ mode, and has the transmitter turned off” because it’s obviously caused problems before.
So – really, is anyone‘s email or messages so important that it always has to be answered right now, rather than waiting? I don’t know – I can’t imagine it myself, but as I keep on finding, I’m less and less understanding of how other people work.
I miss my XDA…
Had one sat on my desk for a year. Never used it. Got pissed off with it. Gave it back. Thinking of doing the same with my mobile.
