Disparity

One ) “US aid for the people affected by the Pakistan earthquake arrives within 48 hours”
Two ) “Some people waited two weeks for aid after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans”
So – 48 hours to get aid together and transport it half-way round the globe. 2 weeks to get it to the place it was needed within the US…
Err, it was 48 hours for the first aid to arrive in the earthquake zone, yes, but it was comming in from Afghanistan, not from the other side of the world. It was one planeload. And there will be people there who won’t get help for months.
The first aid arrived in New Orleans hours aften the hurricane hit. Those waiting two weeks were waiting in emergency shelter, with food and water. Not trivialising their situation, but I’m sure that there are many, many thousands of people in far worse circumstances in and around Kashmir at the minute.
