Getting Closer

I’m still not overly looking forward to the travel home afterwards – but with luck I’ll be deaf for most of it…
My partner (music journo) went to see ’em in Manchester earlier this week.
He left halfway through (he wasn’t impressed), but to be fair the venue was hideously hot and airless, and he was actually there to see the support band.
Ah, but if it was like that, must’ve been at the Academy. Which, in summer, is fucking horrid. Particularly when the band’s popular and the venue’s full.
Whaddya mean “review(ish)”? What more did you want? It was cracking – although it was absolutely packed and hot and airless too. Didn’t matter! The security bods by the stage kept throwing water over the crowd and I somehow managed to find a spot near a fan (of the venting air type).
What ever you do DON’T take a camera!!!!!
