Works do
Posted: Fri 20 May, 2005 | Author: Lyle | Filed under: Work-related |2 Comments »Tonight I’ve the dubious pleasure of attending the leaving do of one of the IT team. It’s been interesting seeing the way no-one has really talked about his impending departure, and really it’s only been today that Twunty Manager™ appears to have thought “Oh shit, who’s going to cover the stuff he was doing?”, so there’s a bit of panic going on too. Which is always amusing, but there we go.
Anyway, I have to say (and I suspect no-one will be surprised by this) I don’t really do work-socialising. Yeah great, it’s a leaving-do. Whoopee. Most of the rest of the team (stop sniggering, you at the back) already socialise outside work hours, and I can’t deny, I have a problem with that. I don’t like ’em while I’m working with ’em, so why on earth would I want to spend my spare time with ’em too?
It might be an interesting evening, I suppose. I don’t think it will be, but it might be. Still, I’m sure I can derive some amusement from the event. Somehow.
I’m curious as to what you wrote in the leaving card…
Yep, couldn’t agree more. It’s the “What do you mean you’re not coming”. Well, actually, I have a life.
