Great North Run
Posted: Tue 26 April, 2005 Filed under: Health, Thoughts, Travel 5 Comments »Flippin’ ‘eck, one of my friends (I’d say she’s insane, but hey, horses for courses) has managed to get herself on a team who are doing the Great North Run on 18th September. Utter madness.
Still, we’ll be going up there to add to the (im)moral support and so on, so it should be quite fun. I’ve never been to a marathon-type event before, so I’m quite looking forward to it.
Take a foldup seat.
You’ll spend hours standing in one spot waiting for the one or two people you know. They’ll run past you and that’s that. You can’t then leave as you have to support the other runners.
Ohh and something that makes a noise is always good, saves you clapping all day.
excellent – good for them! Paula Radcliffe ran from Newcastle to South Shields faster than it takes the 527 bus. hehe. It’s also a superb day out, if I remember right, there’s a lot of other sports-themed stuff going on in the city centre that weekend.
Believe it or not, fat and not so little old me used to run, although I did fell racing. The crowds were brill, really gave you a buzz.
I get tired just watching those runs.
Good for her, though. That takes some determination.
Well, it’s not so far from Redcar, with those clubs you so enjoy…
