Quizzage

Every few months we notice that the next village along is holding a quiz, but we never get round to going.

This time, we took note of the contact number (not the easiest, when it’s in small text on the signs as you drive past) and sorted ourselves out for going.

Turns out it’s normally tables of four, so with just the two of us, we got linked up with another group to make up a table.  It was a fun evening, and let us get to know some more people from the local area – which always helps. Weirdly, the quiz turned out to be organised by the person who’s taken over Herself’s area for Avon…

Anyway, we did OK. As a team, we ended up coming second – we were tied for second place originally, but then a tie-break meant we got the extra point necessary.  We never take the quizzes overly seriously, but we enjoy them and we’ve enough useless knowledge to do fairly well on them anyway.

So all told, a decent night out. Good fun, a big bar of chocolate as a prize for coming second, and enjoyable.

We went along to our new local pub in the village a while back to find out about the quiz nights with the same intention of getting to know folk but kind of lost momentum when we found that the questions were based on “the last 7 days of the Daily Mail”…
