Neat Date

But I do think it neat that the Olympics this year will start on the 8th August.
Why? Because it makes the start date

Even neater, that works for both UK and US date formats (day/month or month/day)
It’s just neat, that’s all.
I believe it was deliberate, for astrological reasons. The official start time of the opening ceremony is 08:08:08 local time.
I thought the same although a bit of digging and I found that 8 is a very lucky number in China (good for prosperity allegedly) so I guess it’s no coincidence.
I can confirm that Ian is spot on with that. I don’t know why it’s a fact I knew apart from having parents-in-law that used to live in Hong Kong.
