Sorting out Wills

Yesterday, I took another step along the path to being organised – and met up with a solicitor in order to make a Will. Hard to believe, really – but sometimes these things have to be done. And in fairness, Herself came along too, as it was about sorting out joint Wills now that we also own the house.

And yes, it was something that should have een done nearly a year ago, but we just didn’t quite get round to it. And yesterday was the day for starting to get it sorted.

We’ve laid out the basics, and now the solicitor is sorting out a draft copy so we can check it out before finalising it. Thankfully, none of it is overly complicated so it shouldn’t take long – and even better, it’s likely to only cost £120 between us. Always a good thing.

A will – why of course. A solicitor – what’s wrong with the internet based will services?

I’ve seen (and heard of) enough horror stories over the years of people having DIY wills, Internet-based wills and all sorts, and it’s just one of those things where I’d far rather leave it in the hands of professionals. I’m the same about house-conveyancing, for example.

Oh, and this article on Motley Fool was a major factor too, along with talking with an accountant about the fact that without a Will, our joint account (that pays all the domestic bills) would be frozen until probate – not a happy thought!

So I’d say it was a case of being a Techie, but a realistic Techie!
