House Viewing

They’ve made the decision to come up here now that we’re up here as well as Herself’s sister, so it’s going to be quite a family affair. (Mind you, that’s pretty much the status quo when it comes to Norfolk, from what I understand…)
They’ve already sold their house in Buckinghamshire, so it’s all going forwards fairly quickly now, but while they’re still based a 3-hour drive away, it’s fallen to us to do the initial house viewings for them.
Not that we’re objecting, I must point out. It gives us the chance to mooch around other people’s places again, and look at some of the stuff that was emphatically outside our sane price range (by which I mean ‘prices we could realistically manage’ – rather than Home Counties ‘prices that’re just insane from the start’) so all told it’s really pretty cool.
The other factor that helps, though, is that the property market around here is actually pretty slow. It means we can look at a place, assess whether the out-laws would like it, then arrange a second visit for when they’ll be up here, and we can be pretty sure that the property will still be available. If nothing else, it makes life considerably easier than the “if you look in a week’s time it’ll all have changed” issues that plague the Thames Valley.
