Automatic

While I’m still undecided about London tonight, I’ve collected the car I’d booked from Avis for the journey. Well, I’d booked it, and it’s paid for, so bugger it, might as well use it.
And what’ve they given me? An automatic. Never driven one before. Ever. So – this should be fun!
Absolute doddle to drive – I’ve had one now for just over four years, and I wouldn’t go back to a manual that readily…
Just point and shoot!
Repeat after me.
I must not move my left foot. I must not move my left foot. I must not move my left foot. I must not move my left foot.
Believe me, I did it, once and there is a very BIG brake pedal waiting to slam your face into the windscreen!
Ohh and make sure they show you how to engage DRIVE. I got an automatic in the States once (although it’s the norm there) and took me ages to figure out that I had to stomp on the brake to get the gearstick to move. (ages… minutes… whatever).
