Dungeonesque

The light-fighting above it had broken (well, wasn’t working) – not that I minded, because it was quite nice to not have any glare on my monitor, and it meant the display worked a lot more nicely too.
Anyway, they tried replacing the fluorescent tubes in the light fitting, to no avail. A couple of flickers, then zap, back to darkness. So they decided to call in an electrician.
He came in yesterday, took a look at it, and left. Still in darkness.
It’s been replaced today, so I’m back to the world of light, and glare.
I have to say, I preferred it when the light fitting was broken.
I watched some traffic lights today. They turned red. Then they turned green. As I stood there dribbling and with a vacant look on my face they turned red again. I liked them better when they were green. Then I realised what a riveting story this would be for everyone. So I wrote it down.
And is there a contract anywhere that says that what I write has to be always interesting, or relevant?
Nope, thought not.
Ahh the brave anonymous commenter.
Why does what YOU write have to be interesting? Surely, as a commenter, it’s up to ME to either find it interesting enough to think about, or not.
So, in that vein… glare. Has anyone used one of those filter things for an LCD screen? I get a little ‘flare’ of light from a near by wall ‘sconce’ (sp?) and rather than, say, smashing said bulb, I wondered if a filter would help..
(see ‘dreary derek’, that wasn’t so hard now, was it?)
I’ve used the filter things (well, the jury-rigged things that attach to the top of the monitor/lcd ) and hate them – I found they made my eyes work harder as I focussed on the filter, not the screen behind it.
Mind you, I do the same with those heated windscreens that have the ‘micro-thin’ elements – always end up focussing on them rather than the road. Which is Not Good, to say the least!
