Yes, I agree it’s a pretty appalling time for our website to have problems.
We hope that they should be sorted out later on today, but I can totally appreciate the fact that that’s a bit too late!
If you decide you want to you could call us on 0800 328 2323 and we can place the order over the phone.
If you mention that you’ve been having problems online we will endeavor to get the order out for delivery before Christmas.
So – fairly impressive all told. But they still lost my business…
So what’s the incentive for Oddbins then? If they’ve already lost your business, why bother contacting them? Seems a tad harsh.
I’d say give them a second chance, they were prompt in response, agreed with your comments and offered a way around the problem. You and I both know that web stuff ‘just breaks’ sometimes, even if it’s been tested…
Anyhoo, what did you order? Anything special or just ‘booze’?
On this particular occasion there’s no incentive for Oddbins – well, with the exception of not losing shitloads of other business, which was also my motivation for emailing them.
I do understand that shit happens – and because of the way they’ve come back to me so quickly, I’ll use them again. It was just on this occasion when they couldn’t guarantee deliveries (any time from Dec 1st to Jan 7th or so) would get to the place in time and their systems couldn’t accept addresses, that they lost the custom.
Instead, I’ve gone to a different supplier where the delivery is guaranteed.
But I’ll use them again – just not for this Christmas.
Oh, and I was buying a decent bottle of malt whisky for Father, so he’s now getting a gorgeous bottle of Balvenie Single Barrel which should keep him happy…
