Half a Million

Well – the day after D4D™’s fourth birthday, the word count goes over 500,000. So that averages out as 125,000 words per year on this site (excluding Rants, Thoughts, etc., which the word-count doesn’t include).

Apparently, the “average” hardback novel contains somewhere around 100,000-150,000 words, so in theory that means that D4D™ roughly works out as a novel a year. Blimey.

Of course, D4D™ was never intended as a scheme to get a book deal – that’s no disrespect to those people who do, because I just think good for them, but it’s not really what I was ever aiming for. But still, you can see why publishers are trying to get book deals and so on out of bloggers, if that’s the kind of word-count they’re putting out…

Why don’t you write a book? or at least a short ranty style amusing book with some of them caustic one liners u occasionally use …… go on, it’s a new project, one for your semi-retirement in the Norfolk countryside (that was a joke, don’t hit me).

Where do you get yer stats from? I know I’ve got 3,821 posts but can’t see where to get the word count… or do I need a plugin?

It’s not an official plug-in. I added it to my index page. I’ll send you an email with the code in – it’s dead easy…
