Holiday In The Sun

OK, now this one befuddles me a bit – and every time I read the words, I still don’t get the concept behind them.

Who the hell would actually go on holiday to Beirut?

What’s next? Parachute holidays to Afghanistan? Fire-fighting trips to Iraq?

People with family there I’d imagine, and it’s supposed to be (have been?) a lovely city.

Human tragedy aside, the place was starting to resemble a bustling, fascinating city again before the Israeli bombs began to level it once again.

Yay Jann, that’s what I’d thought too, Beirut used to be a very vibrant place, I’d have loved to go to a place like that, primarily because there wouldn’t have been many other holiday makers and because ud get to see a different lifestyle and live it, unlike many other so called destinations.

Well, it’s not Beiruit but the Baalbeck Festival in the Bekaa Valley is pretty big, although, obviously now, ‘interrupted’. Lebanon was until very very recently on my list of countries to visit – and I’d love to spend longer than a day in Israel. I think Lebanese cuisine might just be equal with Italian as my favourite.
