Posted: Tue 21 March, 2006 Filed under: D4D™ 4 Comments »In the continuing fight against comment spam, I’ve installed a new (well, new to me, anyway) plug-in on WordPress called Akismet. It’s been recommended by various people, so I thought I’d give it a thrash as there’s been an amount of stuff that SpamKarma was letting through, and it’s also been flagging up certain people (mainly Gordon and Pix (oops, and Tom – sorry!)) as spam-commenters, which of course they’re not.
So I’ll see how it goes – I’m sure a report will follow…
As is always the case, it’s not 100% effective – only today, it’s flagged up a completely safe comment about the Fraggles as spam – but its’ success rate appears to be pretty good, maybe about 1 in 200 slips through the net.
I started using Akismet on Gordon’s recommendation. Seems fine – and spamkarma was also blocking me too.

And Tom, did I recommend it? I don’t use it but hey, glad it’s working for you…
