Quiz Night

Of course, there was a lot of “running round like blue-arsed flies” beforehand, and even during the night, but that was stuff that only we knew about. To the hundred-ish people who came, it all went smoothly, and they all had a really good night. And really, that’s what it’s all about.
We’d had to get some stuff at the local Cash and Carry during the afternoon (luckily getting there before the 1pm closing time, for once) and then went over to get the hall sorted out. 9 rounds of questions (plus an evil bastard of an anagram round) later, the table we were on finally came second (primarily thanks to my utter bobble-hat of a father, who managed to score us 38/40 on the British Wildlife section – and *tut* at him for not knowing a mole has 42 teeth. Like, who doesn’t know that? *grin*) and all had gone well.
Sorting out the food was interesting – we’d organised (and confirmed in writing) that we’d give them the final order at 7.45, and pick up the food an hour later. At 7pm they called me and said “We haven’t had your order yet”. *sigh* But still, all was fine – they had taken a bit longer to do the food, so we were about 20 minutes later than expected to return with it, although some of that was also due to epically manky weather with thick fog on all the roads.
Still, all went well, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Once the quiz was done, and we’d tidied the hall, there was an hour’s drive to get home – again, through interesting fog for some of the way before it disappeared completely as we got to the M40, and didn’t see any more at all – and finally got to bed at about 1.30am.
And we’ve already got people asking when the next one will be, so I guess that can be counted as a success…
Blimey. If that’s the standard of the questions (the mole’s teeth) then that is one challenging quiz! Who the HELL knows that??
