Colours 2
Posted: Fri 26 August, 2005 Filed under: D4D™, Geeky 5 Comments »I’ve been doing a bit of research into the colour-switcher up at the top of the page, following on from the question I asked earlier in the week. Basically, I started wondering which colours were the most popular (although I was pretty sure that yellow, as the default, would be highest) and least popular.
At the time of writing, the results are :
Colour | No of uses | Percentage |
---|---|---|
Yellow | 2548 | 94.58% |
White | 83 | 3.08% |
Pink | 26 | 0.97% |
Blue | 17 | 0.63% |
Green | 8 | 0.3% |
Red | 6 | 0.22% |
Purple | 6 | 0.22% |
Total Number of Records : 2694 |
I’m actually quite surprised how few people use alternative colours, and also that bloody Pink comes in so highly – it’s the colour scheme that I personally loathe the most (although Red comes a close second).
I may have a bit of a twat-about with some of the colour-schemes to make them a bit less offensive, but I don’t know – haven’t decided yet. It’s a thought for the future, anyway.
Good to see (excepting white, which isn’t exactly a “colour”) that the two most popular colours are yellow, and more importantly, pink.
What a great idea for a colour scheme…
“White” is the mis-nomer for “Worksafe” – I didn’t call it worksafe ’til later, but yeah, it’s “white”. I could’ve called it “cream”, I suppose, but that wouldn’t’ve been interesting either.
I like the yellow, mainly because I’m used to it now, but also because the contrast is good, I find it makes it very easy to read.
Would that be why it reverted to yellow for me tonight? I prefer the blue, because I find it easier to read.
There’s a couple of reasons your version would have reverted to yellow, Anni. One is that you haven’t been here for a while, or alternatively it could just be that you’ve cleared out your cookies/internet cache.
The colour preference is set as a cookie on your machine, which d4d™ then finds when you load the page. (I should point out, for the paranoid, that the colour is the only information stored in the cookie) So it could be that that’s been deleted.
