Work related

Work is still carrying on apace, and actually looks like it’ll be interesting. As it turns out, I’m not just going to be developing new stuff, I’m going to be doing a lot of background stuff, writing documentation, creating site maps, database diagrams, data-flow explanations, the lot. It’s all linked to quality management (I just know that Karen has now put her head in her hands, thinking “Oh God, he’s going to be asking me questions on it”) and a whole bundle of technical documentation etc. (And now Gordon has done the same)

I’ve not done a lot of this side of IT work before – as a techie, documentation etc. has always been someone else’s problem. But now it’s mine, and I’m actually looking forward to doing some new stuff, figuring out the inherent challenges, and generally swearing lots while I do so. Oh, and in the meantime it’ll also provide me with a good way of learning all the systems and how they work. Not bad at all.
