Co-proxamol

Interesting to see today that the painkiller co-proxamol is to be scrapped. Apparently it’s been linked with up to 400 deaths per year and a study found it was the second biggest method of drug-related suicide in the UK, accounting for almost one in five deaths.

I’ve used co-proxamol before, and I can see why it’s easy to overdose on, either intentionally or accidentally. It’s a seriously heavy gun in the world of painkillers, and while it’s sad to see something so effective be withdrawn from the market, I can understand the reasons why it’s necessary to do so.

Hi evryone, there must be a way around this Co,Proxamol lark?
I mean shouldnt we be able to buy direct from manufactures or pharmasuticles, with a licnense, i saw a documentry about a guy from uk who set up his own drug & medicines sales dept from his bedroom, using only a simple medicle license that requires you only to have a small office and no medicle background, he brought co, proxamol and all sorts and sold em on the chemists, but he could sell a few to us hey? what im saying is there must be a way we could set up this sort of thing, any know any background to doing this, and then we could all help each other, and it would be cheaper.

  10. pill popper says:

lets ambush a drugs lorry on the M1

  11. Anne Tay says:

Hey Nig…you been on da booze ??

  12. pill popper says:

Hi Anne LOL no booze i dont drink, tea total.
just can’t get my head around how difficult it is to get these damned things D.G’s,
Finding diamonds or Gold would be a better prospect, i know theres a pharmasuticle company near me in Castle Donington that makes CO,Proxamol, Derbyshire, and i cannot for the life of me get hold of any not from my doctor or any G.P where i live, but they are still making the things?
Well aprt from Pharma or medica who are trying desperatley to get theire site back up, any one else had any luck from else where?

  13. Anne Tay says:

Nig ,as far as i know the site is still up ..we are all awaiting with bated breath to see if Andrea gets her order…

  20. Anne Tay says:

Ok ok i give in ..how do you work this paypal ?..i set it up but it keeps telling me 2 put my latest transactions in .they say i had money put into paypal ..15 april …i did not have an account !!!

  21. lyle says:

No, you had two small transactions (like 15p and 30p) put into your bank account by Paypal – so they can verify you’ve put the correct bank account details into Paypal.

So go to online banking, find the two tiny transactions from Paypal, and put those amounts into Paypal’s verification request.

  22. Anne Tay says:

Oh thank you Lyle you are a darling …where would we be without you ..ta xx

  23. Russ McLean says:

    Hi Nigel @ 412,

The answer is for the MHRA to listen to the UK Parliament and admit their Named Patient system has catastrophically collapsed. The MHRA need to reclassify, as suggested in the Parliamentary debates, coproxamol as a Class A drug. This emphasises how serious the drug, is and hands the decision to prescribe back to the clinicians as it should be.

The current position is progress is being made to bring the MHRA to account. They admit that some of the 1,000,000 patients will find no alternative to coproxamol. They know the doctor’s union and insurers have utterly rejected the MHRA Named Patient system.

    Exhibit A….

    http://www.mddus.com/mddus/news-and-events/news/january-08/risk-alert-co-proxamol-withdrawal.aspx

If the MHRA persist in stonewalling, moves will be made to audit, overhall, and probably disband the MHRA because they have inhumanely and culpably exposed patients to harm and untreated pain. Criminal proceedings against the MHRA are a possibility. It isn’t just the mess they have made of coproxamol leaving people to live and die in unmedicated pain, but Panorama has already had Breckenridge and an expose of the MHRA mess of Seroxat and other drugs.

The coproxamol issue is far from over, and whilst trips to Cyprus are a stand in for our good friends in Cyprus being offline, the real answer is for the MHRA to be closed down and a new decent effective government department put in their place.

    Best regards,

    Russ.

  25. Chris says:

  26. Anne Tay says:

OK Chris ..the race is on …lol

  27. Isty says:

    Greetings fellow DGers

I am so glad and heartened that I am not the only one in this sitution. I have today put in an order to Medic2u. fingers xd

This drug gives me life and I am not ashamed to say so, how can something apparently so bad be so good for you. I made my own mind up. I dont follow the no pain no gain philosophy. No pain get a life and enjoy it.

    Isty

  28. Anne Tay says:

    Oh Welcome Isty…..

  29. Anne Tay says:

Chris ..have you had conformation back from medica2u .?

  30. Chris says:

Anne, No nothing at the moment but will be checking regularly, not sure how long i will wait before asking the question from them, depends on my mood, so possibly tommow. Chris.

  31. Andrea says:

    Hey Anne and Chris
Just to let you guys know, when I ordered last week from Medica, I didn’t get any comfirmation either. As you know, I received my order on Friday which was 5 days after placing it and still no confirmation?!
I did enquire and they just apologised and told me my order had been posted.
    Hope this helps.

  32. Chris says:

Andrea, thanks for that, will just wait and see what happens then, at least untill next weekend.

  33. Chris says:

Anne and Andrea, Just received confirmatiom from Medica2u that everything is ok., del approx 5 to 7days.

  34. Anne Tay says:

Hi ..well i got confirmation this morning …order on its way ,What about you Chris ?..

  35. Chris says:

Anne, It looks like we both sent the previous messages at exactly the same time, received confirmation this morning. I am confident of winning this little race.

  36. Anne Tay says:

Chris ,how spooky was that ?sending a message at exactly the same time ..eh lol… well you have an advantage Chris ,you get normal post …iv got to wait for Wells Fargo on a good day.or if that fails they attach it to a random homing pigeon ….lol

  37. Twinkle says:

    Hi there guys

I’ve just tried to order some DG (M2u) and now they’re out of stock…..just my luck.

Does anyone know how long they usually take to re-stock?

Nice to have found this blog and so many kind and helpful people….bless you all.

  38. Chris says:

Hi there twinkle, i think some while ago they were out for a couple of weeks, i suppose it depends on their circumstances. Try e-mailing them for an estimated time or you could go for the Destirol, slightly dearer of course. They probably want to shift some of them.

  39. Anne Tay says:

Hi Twinkle ..oh sorry about that …….OK NIG WHERE IS THE LORRY ……

  40. Twinkle says:

    Hi Chris
Are Destirol as good/same as DG’S I’ve never come across them before.
    Thanks for your help guys.

  41. Chris says:

Twinkle, I have not had them, i think Anne has had them. I think they are the same but different make. Over to you Anne.

  42. Andrea says:

    Hi Twinkle
I’ve had the Destirol a few times and I find them good. No difference from Distalgesic. 🙂
    Hope this helps.

  43. Twinkle says:

Thank you Chris and Andrea you have been
    very helpful indeed.

    Best regards

  44. Anne Tay says:

No never had them Chris …

  45. Anne Tay says:

Wll Chris ..got a e-mail telling me medica2u are out of stock of DG…….and i would be given a refund…..

  46. Chris says:

That is unlucky Anne, does not look good for me then, not had an e-mail yet but will not be surprised now if i get one. What a farce this is.They could at least send Destirol.

  47. Anne Tay says:

Hi Chris ..well i ordered some Destirol, never had them ,good luck

  48. Sniper Kyle says:

    Hi,

I ordered co-proxamol & renax (generic xanax) before the “bust” at pharma2u back in Feb ’09
I’d given up hope of receiving my meds.
    I emailed medica2u@googlemail last Thursday 22 Apr 09.
Received my meds this morning – very happy!

  49. Twinkle says:

Bad news guys. Med2u has just refunded my money for Destirol. I received an e-mail to say they were in the post…..very upset….don’t understand what’s going on because they don’t have ‘out of stock’ on their web site

  50. Chris says:

I have had no further information on my order of DG on Sat 25th except confirmation. Money has been taken but with all the bad news about stock i still fear the worst will happen. Will keep you all posted.
