Co-proxamol
Posted: Mon 31 January, 2005 Filed under: Health 868 Comments »Interesting to see today that the painkiller co-proxamol is to be scrapped. Apparently it’s been linked with up to 400 deaths per year and a study found it was the second biggest method of drug-related suicide in the UK, accounting for almost one in five deaths.
I’ve used co-proxamol before, and I can see why it’s easy to overdose on, either intentionally or accidentally. It’s a seriously heavy gun in the world of painkillers, and while it’s sad to see something so effective be withdrawn from the market, I can understand the reasons why it’s necessary to do so.
I have received an e-mail from P2u today, they hope to be back within a couple of days. Fingers crossed on that one.
Hey Chris!
I ordered from P2U last week when they briefly appeared again and I received order yesterday?!?!? Great stuff!! I couldn’t believe it!………….well, until I had a mishap with delivery but that a whole new story! 🙁 Lets just say after after receiving 100 D/G I only have 20 left!!:(
Anyway, that’s great news!
I sincerely hope so!
This is awful.:(
I will keep an eye on it!
Thank you so much for the info, at least there’s some light at the end of the tunnel?!
Take Care
I too am waiting for two separate orders from P2U.
Has anyone here talked to a solicitor about suing their health board over postcode prescribing of Co-proxamol?
It might be useful to know in which areas it could/could not be obtained from a GP.
As far as I can tell, here in Ayrshire & Arran no GP is prescribing it.
I can’t take Tramocet because the manufacturer (not my GP!) have warned about severe even fatal effects of taking it with other drugs which affect serotonin levels -such as migraine drugs or anti-depressants.
I meant Ayrshire & Arran Health Board.
Avril
Hi Chris,
Do you, or does anyone on this Board have an alternate email contact for Pharma2u to their old email address?. I tried their old email and no answer.
Am endeavouring to contact Pharma2u’s Defence Lawyer in order to support Pharma2u in court against the MHRA:
1 – Complete and utter ba77s up of the Coproxamol issue;
2 – The MHRA ignoring the UK Parliament (twice);
3 – Two MHRA doctors being reported to the GMC for alleged professional misconduct;
4 – The Panorama documentary team advising the MHRA have featured in probably more of their exposes than any other organisation;
5 – The fact that thousands, probably tens of thousands of UK patients have been left to live and die in untreated pain because of the MHRA bungling with some publicity hungry MHRA no-mark gloating over “”fake” drugs in their much publicised UK raid.
The old saying people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
So if anyone can put me in touch with the Pharma2u Defence Lawyer, I would be most obliged.
Cheers,
Russ
Hi Avril,
We already looked at solicitors and law suits. VERY expensive and logistically fraught. Also if the shiney trousered penpushers at MHRA Ivory Towers can arrogantly ignore the sovereign UK Parliament, what hope the UK Law Lords when whoever pushes a UK lawsuit up through the quagmire to appeal and we have all died a horrible MHRA induced painful deaths awaiting the Coproxamol from broken MHRA promises.
The most effective route that is becoming apparent to have the MHRA halled over the rocks and sort this mess out is similar (ironically for you based on Arran) to how we ended up at EU Commissioner Jaques Barrot when CalMac blocked our attempt to put a second ferry on between Brodick & Ardrossan. We got a shock, and still have Mr Barrot’s letter when he unequivocally replied he would take action, and CalMac no longer exist in their old format. It is now David MacBrayne Group Ltd with a whole bunch of subsidiaries. At least the old chairman is no longer in place, but there are stilll P45’s needed for some upper management in charge of your ferry.
With regard to the MHRA, Panorama are aware and hovering, and I think once the EU thing (Human Rights based) takes off, the MHRA should go the same way that that other malfunctioning government quango went. Wholesale review and BIG slap on the knuckles. As well as P45’s and No Sir Freddy style leaving pensions for the dishonourable heads of the MHRA.
Very best wishes,
Russ.
P.S. You’re not the Avril from Blackrock by any chance?
Hi Russ. I do have a new e-mail address but in light of whats going on right now i don’t if i am doing the right thing to put it up here. They have had thousands of e-mails so maybe they are being a bit selective as to who to reply to.
I can inform you that the e-mail address i used and had a reply within 12 hrs was admin@pharma2u.com, addressed to Jane.Maybe i was just lucky because i have corresponded with Jane often. Try again Russ they might be back up shortly. Someone else might give out alternative e-mail other wise you would have to contact me privately.Good luck.
Hi Russ
I don’t have any other e-mail address, but what I did come across that i don’t quite understand is……..Whilst browsing a discussion forum I came across an open discussion headed “Parma2U is back” After reading the fairly obvious comments as we know here about them being back for a short time then off again, I came across this comment posted today………”No reply to anyone specific. But now they are online in Gmail Chat, still hesitant to even try open a conversation with them though, before I hear people getting new orders out, if anyone have placed some yet? will read back in the topic.”
I have no idea about any Gmail chat with them but just a thought than it could possibly provide you with some sort of info.
I know it’s nothing solid but as I said, It’s just a thought.
Kind Regards
Hi All,
In spite of an email from pharma2U last week saying an order would be shipped on the 20th I have not received either the February or March order yet, though the money has been taken for both of them.
I emailed again but so far no reply. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
BTW Russ – how did you get on with your book ‘Letters From the Edge’? I sent you some letters which I hope you got – I couldn’t follow up at the time as we got turfed out the house then while the council did building work.
No, I’m not from Blackrock, and not Arran – I’m across the water in Prestwick, but it’s the same health board.
Cheers,
Avril
Hi Chris & Andrea, Many thanks for that. Very helpfull.
Hi Avril, Have been in and out of hospital over the past 18 months, a lot of blame goes to the MHRA. So to answer your question, the book is on the back burner, though a lot has been completed and the finished chapters have had the initial read through by the editor. Had hoped to launch it at the Glenrothes by-election, but put back to the run up to the General Election. By then it may be possible to include some info on the breach of Human Rights legislation that is waiting in the wings to be thrust at the senior mismanagement at the MHRA. Though there may be some sub judice issues with that to protect the rights of those at the MHRA who may end up in the dock.
Very best wishes,
Russ.
P2u non appearance is not good, i have e-mailed them again to day. If i get a reply will post details.
Hi Russ,
I’m sorry to hear the Bs put you in hospital.
Hopefully the general election will get their noses out of the trough for a bit to focus on the needs of the electorate.
Chris – the email I got from them on the 19th was from that email address you posted but I’ve had no reply from it since and no answer from any phone numbers. (The ones I have were all from invoices or on their old web pages. )
Regards,
Avril
P2u Site seems to be back up, perhaps they were catching up with back orders. Price up as well.
I managed to get P2u on the phone today – they said they could not supply Coproxamol without a prescription even although their own doc had sent me one last year that was supposed to cover future orders.
She said someone would call me tomorrow to talk about it more and discuss refunds of my two forty pounds payments.
Avril
Thats not good news Avril, who is going to buy the inflated price of this item now if the Dr will not write the prescriptions. They have not actually stated this on their web site as yet. Cannot buy from Offshore either need a MiniTeller for that. Not good all round.
Confusion! I should have said that the number I called yesterday was the ePharma number. I couldnt get an answer to the Pharma2U number and so tried that since my last order, although confirmed by Pharma2U, was sent with an invoice from ePharma.
Apparently ePharma now want to make a big distiction between the company they are associated with which is called Pharma2U.Ltd and not Pharma2U.com. (although today they suggested I call the Pharma2U.com tel number, the original one I already had!)
Last night I got an email from Pharma2U.com which still said both the Feb and March orders had been despatched on 19th March.
This is a nightmare.
Both orders from Pharma2U arrived today including twenty extra tablets.
Huge relief especially since I can’t get past the Veripayment name & address page on Offshore for some reason.
I remember Anne saying she was able to buy some Coproxamol while in Malta. Has anyone else managed to buy them without scrip in Europe? (something to take into account now when planning a holiday, as well as climate!!)
Avril
Hi Avril. Glad you received your items, the problem you had with Veripayment including myself is the fact Veripayment do not deal with credit cards now from this site.
I went 2 malta in november and brought 11 boxes home with me cost me £38 no script just like buyin a box of paracetamol….am going again beginin of may partly 4 them and partly 4 a holiday same box that comes from pharma2u makes u think how much money they r making sellin co proxamol.
i meant £38 for the 11 boxes not each box lol
i am thinking flying to malta just for 1 or 2 day trip for co proxamol, ive checked forums for driving there, seems a bit expensive, well any way im male 44 years of age single but thats not the point , what i would like is maybe some others who would like to come with me and share costs maybe? email me pls if you would consider this as i would like to go some time this month april, my email is star4.5@hotmail.com
Hi Avril,
You are lucky! I placed an order with pharma2u on 18th Feb and it was debited from my account the same day. After numerous emails to them I got an answer from Jess telling me that my order was despatched on 19th March also . She gave me the Track and Trace number for it but it is not recognised by the Royal Mail and she is not replying to my emails again. I also placed an order with Offshore on 12th March which was apparently shipped on 13th March – and yes – I am still waiting for them also.
Oh Dear!
Looks like Parma2U site is down again. :S
Anyone heard anything about it?
Chris, How are you doing?
Hi Andrea, I was made redundant last week after approx 40 years and this wk end i am sick, but i trust you are allright. P2u more problems i have read on another forum they are having tech problems with their site but hope to be back next week. Obviously as i have got time on my hands i will be searching for any snippets of news on this. Best not to panic just yet. Chris.
Hey Chris
Oh dear! I’m so sorry to hear you were made redundant! Jeez, it’s everywhere! My husband was make redundant last months and it’s no joke! I’m thinking of you. 🙂
Ah, that’s good to know about P2U.
I hope you’re feeling much better.
Take Care.
Yeah, hopefully they will get back to normal soon. 🙂
Tina,
That’s exactly what happened to me, and I got a tracking number too, which I didnt know was for, didnt try to use it. When the pills came they had a postmark of 28 May, so I hope you’ve got yours by now too.
I had called and emailed and didnt seem to get anywhere but it was mostly after the 28th so I don’t think that made any difference.
I’m still writing to my Health Board and to the Dept of Health but don’t expect any help from them. I’d like to re-order from Pharma2U if they come back up but afraid of having the same happen again.
And as Chris says, it seems imposs to order from Offshore now. (Sorry to hear about the redundancy Chris).
Pill popper – I was thinking of trying to go to Malta but couldn’t go this month and would probably need to fly. A personal visit seems to be the only way ahead at the moment, I hope you have a successful trip like Jose.
Regards to all, hope you’re all managing to get some from some place.
Avril
If anyone would like to buy co-proxamol please get in touch smcctw@aol.com £35 for box of 100 free delivery paypal account or postal orders.
HELLO CHRIS …im back …lost you for some time ,reading down …well we were working for the enemy lol lol lol ,how are you ? ok i hope.got a new laptop ..but im afraid i lost the site ….just found it today ,i had such a laugh …so whats been going on Chris ? talk to me talk to me lol
Hi Anne, its great to hear from you again, and you seem to be in high spirits. Glad you got your laptop sorted.
The news is P2u after being raided is unstable, their web site is up and down like a yoyo. Offshore-Pharma stopped doing credit card transactions, so obtaining DG is tough unless of course like yourself you can go to Malta, now that you have the new laptop i will be expecting to hear from you again sooner rather than later. Welcome back. Chris.
Thank you Chris …so DG can not be bought anywhere.well i guess its Malta ..here i come lol
Well i only take three a day so i could come off them …and try some other pain killer …its such a shame Chris ,they really are a good pain killer
HI Avril, yes i am still serious about the trip to Malta, although an item as appered on D4D from Selina as you can see, i am thinking about buying some, if any one as brought any could they please confirm if this is a legit thing? my apologies to Selina for any doupts but in these desperate times i fear any desperate measures for any oppertunists to take advantage of our sittuation lol is a thing to take in matter an ill affordable one. A few people have been in contact with me about this trip to Malta, unfortunatly due to mobility problems they cannot go, i have promised to bring a few boxes back for them, although i dont know how many i can get away with bringing back? i would like to bring back 20 boxes if possible, sounds alot and my doupts are setting in right now lol, but i am going to give it a shot. hopefuly by the end of April or early May, unless i can buy some from Selina?
I’ve used my real name instead of pill popper
Nigel.
[Edited by Lyle, Site Owner] – I think Nigel means he’s also posted previously here as pill popper. I’ve amended the commenter name to reflect that (on this post).
Nigel..not a good idea to form a queue in the chemist shop some chemist are very wary and tell you you require a prescription …but will allow you buy 10 tabs …i was also told by one of the chemist …YOU ENGLISH why do you have to come over here and buy our meds [im a Scot lol]…i think if you go over in a group they will contact one another ..and demand a prescription ,i know the situation we are in ,and calls for desperate measures .i would be careful Beat of luck Nig
Hi Chris ,i sent a email to Pharma2u ,got a reply …Quote- Dear Anne ..only got Distalgesic Phadisco …From Jesselyn..
Looked this up on the internet ,seems its a manufacturer in Cyprus mmm
COULD THINGS BE LOOKING UP LOL
Got an email back from Jess ,she said the website is having probs ,but if we order 5 boxes from her we will get a 1 free …as we have to pay by Western Union wich i understand is a global money transfer system…awaiting a reply on the price …what ya think Chris ?
Got a reply from Jess ..DG will cost £45 but we must buy 5 boxes ..and we get one free to pay for the money we would be out for the money transfer ….hope this helps
Phone number for Cyprus ==00357 96484272 ,i have not tried the number …so im just giving this number as on the email …..im taking out a disclaimer lol lol
Thats £41 profit on 100 DG
Hi Avril,
Thanks for you reply. I am still waiting – nothing has turned up yet and I am getting my emails to Pharma2u sent back to me. I am at a loss what to do!
Hi Anne, Yes i have seen the price before the site went down again and i was not amused. I checked for doing a transaction with Western Union for Offshore and it was £12. Buy 5 boxes at £45ea. that’s a big outlay. I don’t think it would be much cheaper from Offshore at the present exchange rate. Perhaps i should give up the chase soon for buying these items, especially as i am now redundant. Thanks for the info though Anne, i will keep looking to try and find a better deal. Chris.
Hi Chris ,sorry to hear about your redundancy my son is on the verge of loosing his job ,i do think its atrocious what this lot are charging for DG,but i suppose ,needs must for some people ..take care
Well I am new to posting but I’ve read the forum for ages.
I’m an arthritis sufferer and I just wanted to let you know what I know.
Firstly, the lady above (selina) isnt answering emails and so I can only suppose its someone taking enjoyment out of our pain and misery.
Secondly, DO NOT SEND MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION to OFFSHORE Pharma. I have dealt with them for years with no problem using veripayment but now I have lost several hundred pounds sending money to them. Whilst I was dealing with there emails of giving me details of who to send the money to I received updates but now Western Union has sent the money I am not receiving any replies and so it looks like Ive been ripped off.
As for Pharma2u I am unsure what is happening there but I can only pray for something to work. I really don’t understand why everything has gone so wrong so fast. You might expect 1 avenue to breakdown but not all.
Finally, I am looking into going to Malta but I have lost all trust in ppl and so don’t know whether the stories of buying in Malta are also false.
Sorry Dorothy to hear of your ordeal ..i have never dealt with western union ,i did go over to Malta on holiday ,and i bought some DG for around 4 euros for a box of 100,,i do hope things get better for you
Hi guys just got back from Malta u can get them BUT they have been reduced to 2 strips per box so price has doubled for them some pharmacy’s will only sell you 1 box but if you got a cheeky hubby like me (asked for 30 boxes of 20 tablets ) you’ll be fine but you have to find a pharmacy who’s willing to do that a lot of pharmacys asked for prescription
this all sounds dire, and i was looking forward to flying to malta this month to get some D.G but if restrictions have been put on the amount you can get from the chemist over there then i hardly think it would be a viable thing to do, it would mean spending all day looking for differant chemists to get them, and my leggs will only take me so far as i have walking problems to diabetes. so this cancels my trip to malta, >( back to the drawing board guys any ideas?
Thanks Anne Tay, for that advice, ive canceled the trip to Malta, and now looking for other alternatives for D.G.
Hi Gemma ..can i ask what part of Malta you visited ?
