Co-proxamol

Interesting to see today that the painkiller co-proxamol is to be scrapped. Apparently it’s been linked with up to 400 deaths per year and a study found it was the second biggest method of drug-related suicide in the UK, accounting for almost one in five deaths.

I’ve used co-proxamol before, and I can see why it’s easy to overdose on, either intentionally or accidentally. It’s a seriously heavy gun in the world of painkillers, and while it’s sad to see something so effective be withdrawn from the market, I can understand the reasons why it’s necessary to do so.

This article was posted on the ‘Dear Denise’ site Russ. What do you think?

  2. Russ McLean says:

    Hi Barbara,

These experts make my blood boil. Just look at that lethal idiot Dr Professor Sir Roy Meadows, whose “expert” evidence led to the wrongful jailing and premature death of Sally Clark. The story of what Sally Clark went through is an utter nightmare. Not bad enough losing two loved children to cot death, but this arrogant idiot pontificated way beyond his remit and caused her wrongful imprisonment….

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4685511.stm

So barbara, what do I think. Well some bright university student should do a Ph.D., study in the correlation between arrogance and idiocy to rank. There seems, in a few at least, to be a direct scientifically proveable relationship between doctor promoted to surgeon, promoted to professor promoted to knight of the realm and dangerous arrogance. IMHO.

As for the article you have referred to, the so called scientists have failed in their thoroughness and objectivity by not addressing the shear quantity of those left in untreated pain. They have failed to address the failure of the MHRA “Named Patient” coproxamol system. But what do you expect from so many experts funded, so often, by drug companies?

hi, could someone please tell me anything about private prescriptions? where could i get them from and how much do they cost? thank you

  4. Twinkle says:

    Hi Eve
I don’t think we can obtain DG on a private prescription. I could be wrong and maybe someone will correct me.
My take on things was that DG was no longer licensed, therefore, obtaining it on any kind of prescription in this country was out of the question……anyone know any different please jump in.

    **WARNING**
PRESCRIBE4U.com Formally known as PHARMA2U.com are a bunch of theives. They got busted a while back in the UK :
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/7921667.stm

Before they were busted they were actually quite trustworthy but now , its rumoured that their website has just been taken over by a bunch of theives based in cyprus. You WILL be kissing goodbye to your money if you place an order.

  6. Chris says:

Is it just rumours? have you got any examples of people losing money from this site, perhaps yourself, We would be very interested to hear about this problem.

  7. Mike Smith says:

Hi Chris – Yes, Ive got one for you – ME!!

Id purchased off these people in the past when they were based in Stafford. Before the bust they were ok, a little late with deliveries, but lets face it, we all know the score. These are prescription drugs and now that some asshole has decided that because a few idiots cant handle the tablets they should be banned – places like pharma2u / prescribe2u are the only place you can get them unless you can find a sympathetic doctor.

Anyway, I paid for some tabs. Realised (too late) that they were using a chinese payment system (your payment will be taken in CNY currency, but you don’t find this out until you have paid) . Then got no order confirmation, emailed them to see if things were ok (gave them benefit of the doubt) . No replies to any email and the order is simply showing as FAILED in my account with them, even though they have had my money and made no contact with me at all.

Did a bit of digging and found out I’m not the only one. The group doing this is based in cyprus which is where alot of their drugs came from when they were based in the UK. When they got bust their main honcho, who called herself JANE or ANNE got arrested and banged up. It seems then that the website (which many like me, trusted) has been taken over by scammers. The payment system they use has been used by other scammers as its a “no questions asked – no refunds” payment system.

You place an order at your peril. and beware – a common ploy of Pharma2u (I know, because they told me) is to post in forums like this pretending to be a happy customer.

They’ve stolen my money, there’s not much i can do about that – but I can try and prevent them stealing money off as many other people as I can. Hense my post here.

  8. Chris says:

Hi Roger, Thanks for the information, that is worrying, and a fair warning to anyone at the moment wanting to order from there. Not much we can do about that i suppose if the payment system is corrupt. If i can find out any info on this matter will post here, sorry you lost out on this Roger, what a shambles. Chris

  9. Mike Smith says:

Ummm Chris – My name is Mike, not Roger lol – Anyway, you’re right. Its a complete shambles and these crooks wouldn’t have a market if the bloody govt hadn’t made these tabs named patient only.

Co-Prox are the ONLY tablet that works for many people – millions infact. Everything is dangerous if not used properly so using that as an excuse to ban them was just dumb. What are they going to do, bans cars because people commit suicide in them as well???

Bloody government. Everything they touch turns to sh1t!

  10. Anne Tay says:

Hi Mike how long has this scam being going on ?…and did someone from Pharma actualy tell you that the site had been taken over by scammers ? so what you are trying to say …that you have inside information about this …yea ?

  11. Chris says:

    Ref to post 608.

    Sorry for that Mike.

  12. Russ McLean says:

    #609 Hi Mike,

I think you are being overly harsh on pharma2u. Those in the know, know the folk involved. They are being put through hell just now, and why? So that people the MHRA screwed over with their failed “Named Patient” system could get coproxamol post ban. Pharma2u did this for many folk. The remainder at Cyprus are not scammers. They are worried about the MHRA and are having to be very cautious. For all they know, you could be an MHRA employee !

Though I think you are genuine, and you are spot on about the MHRA screwing us all. Fortunately, the MHRA just put up on the internet the Freedom of Information copy complaints about this. The download is around 1,015 pages on a pdf file…..

    http://www.mhra.gov.uk/home/groups/es-foi/documents/foidisclosure/con049136.pdf

This pdf link is certainly helpful in the campaign to get the MHRA overhaulled and their catastrophic mess, not just of coproxamol, but seroxat before that, exposed on the appropriate television documentary.

    Best regards,

    Russ.

  13. Anne Tay says:

My sentiments exactly Russ ..i think we may have a fly in the ointment here …..if not please accept my apology …MIKE

  14. Mike Smith says:

No fly in the ointment Anne. Im one of the people the new crowd has ripped off. I accept your apology.

Look, when they were Pharma2u and before the raid – as I said they were ok. My heart sank when i found out about the raid. But I am always happy to give people another chance. I didnt care about the raid. Was just upset that it had happened to some nice people, a few of which i had spoken too.

The facts are things have changed. They have stolen nearly £100 off me, they have ignored any attempt at contact and the payment crowd they are using are notorious.

Look, quite frankly, I havnt come here to get grief, i simply came here to warn people about what has happened. What you all choose to do with your money is entirely upto you. Best of luck to you all.

  15. Anne Tay says:

Sorry to hear of your ordeal Mike ..but i speak as i find iv never had any trouble when ordering in the past ,the people in Cyprus seem to be doing their best to hold things together ,yes i know its getting harder to get orders from them as DG are not available ,some of us are in contact with the folk in Cyprus ,and never have we had any reason to think they were dishonest in anyway ,as i say i speak as i find

  16. Anne Tay says:

PS…i hope your money problem gets resolved ….good luck

  17. Mike Smith says:

Anne that’s as may be but my bank account is still £100 light , ive had no contact from them whatsoever save for the automated email i got from the payment processor the moment i paid.

That stinks of scammers to me and without wishing to insult you, i dont know whether or not you actually are part of their team?

In any event, if you are in the “know” and you are in contact with them could you ask them to answer their emails and RETURN the money from orders they cant / wont fulfil.

If those tablets turn up, or i get my money back I would be happy to post on here that I have – but the same as you are “speaking as you find” so am I.

The facts are here that i feel that I have been ripped off. Money gone, no contact & no tablets. I would love to be proved wrong, but until I am I will also say it as i see it, in this and other forums – with regret.

  18. Anne Tay says:

Mike ….no i can assure you i am not a part of any team ,

    Maguuuu remove him …now

  19. Mike Smith says:

    “Maguuuu remove him …now”

Whats this?? Anne, remember you accused me of being a “fly in the ointment” – so am I not allowed a little paranoia as well?

Look, Im going to make this my last post, I cant believe ive already made so many. Pharma2u NO LONGER EXIST. Prescribe2U have ripped me off to the tune of £100. If just reading a couple of insults from you would get me that £100 back, then fine, Id be happy to read a couple but it wont Im afraid.

You said that you are “in the know” and that you are “in contact” with those people in Cyprus. Wasnt it reasonable for me to think from that you may be part of the scam, errr, sorry, I meant team.

Anyway, look, Ive said what I came here to say. Anyone thats read this now knows theres a good chance they WILL get ripped off by Prescribe2u. Thats the way it is.

Now, thats it for me, Im off. You guys & gals take care.

  20. Chris says:

I hope you have better luck elsewhere Mike, please post if the order turns up, i think it still might turn up.

  21. Anne Tay says:

Hi Mike ..im sorry if you felt intimadated by Magu .its a joke we play on here and if you scroll down you will understand ,Mike i never said i was ,,in the know ,,Russ said some people were in the know ,yes i did say i was in contact ,as are many people on this site and other sites ,does not mean we are part of a scam ,i do sympathise with you ,so i did take the liberty of emailing Jess and asking her if she knew anything about your order ..i take it Mike Smith is your name .if it’s not please dont put it on here…if she answers me i will post it on here if thats ok by you ,i was looking at another site lastnight and people were talking about their orders being late one guy’s order arrived 2 day’s ago …he placed his order Feb …yes i know its a long time to wait …i have myself have waited 3 weeks perhalps longer for an order …i know thats not your gripe its the money ,but i myself have never heard of anyone paying thru cny never heard of it ,perhalps others have .Mike we dont give grief to anyone on this site if we can help you we will Anne x

  22. Jo says:

    Hi
I have ordered with success previously from Pharma2u and been trying to order again! On the 5th June I ordered some coprox and payment was taken. I got notification from my bank that it was a foreign transaction but didn’t worry too much as I have been sent from Cyprus before. I have sent 2 emails and not received a reply – and I know it’s early days yet. But my money was taken via CNY – that is the info on my bank statement. I did receive a confirmation email from Prescribe2u stating my order had been accepted and processed. So fingers crossed, I will keep you updated.

  23. Jo says:

    … by the way….

got this the other day, and following on from the President Mugabe email….. I got

“In Partnership with the United States Government. We are happy to inform you that an ATM Cash card has been accredited in your favor , with the sum of $1.8 million USD as a part payment from the Resolution Panel On Contract Payment, we have been trying to contact you regarding this, so be kind enough to get back to us with the following below. Kindly contact Mrs Linda Hill on her email’

Anyone know her? Just got to give her all my personal details and that’s it I;m a millionaire!

    LOL. Bye!

  24. General Mugabe Mugu says:

    To my dearest Ann Tay,
T’was not me that made Mike Smith pay,
In fact the guilty beast is the MHRA.

As for the ladies at pharma2u,
They’ve given their best to keep Coproxers in the pink,
Would you risk 14 years for all this in the clink?

For poor old Mike there still may be hope.
Most D4Ders get their Coprox – it may take a while,
    But most give a smile.

Though sadly for some they have a good moan,
What else is there to do, but give in and groan?
Unless your Victor Meldrew with achey old bones.

So Nice Anne and Good Mike,
Please make up with a smile,
Even if delivery of Coprox goes on for a while.

    With kindest regards,

    General Mugabe Mugu.

P.S. If you would like to email me your Paypal account details and password, Queen Zitzit of Scotland still has some crown jewels to sell. They will soon be on http://www.zitbay.com

  25. Anne Tay says:

Ya wanna be in my gang my gang my gang..wanna be in my gang ,,OHH YEAH

Lol..come on own up Russ,Lyle ,this is your doing …i want a percentage of all things sold on the above site

  26. Mike Smith says:

Anne, just got in from work. Have had a read of whats been said today and am interested as well by Jo’s post. So, although I didnt intend to, Ive posted again !!

No, Smith IS NOT my real name. But Im sure Jess can work out easily who i am, unless of course theyve done this to loads of people.

Having read Jo’s story and also similar ones I wonder if you could also make a suggestion for Jess in updating their website.

The website (in FAQ) currently says this:
    =============================
How long will it take for my package to arrive?
All orders dispatched from our World-Wide Pharmacy are shipped by International Registered Post which normally takes 5-7 days for you to receive your goods from the date that your order was placed.
Orders dispensed out of the UK to UK customers normally takes 2-3 days.
    ===========================

Perhaps they could be honest and change it to this:

All orders ARE dispatched from our World-Wide Pharmacy. which normally takes 15-195 days for you to receive your goods. In some cases we may just decide to keep your cash and not respond to you at all. You have no come back on us at all because we trade in some dodgy flat in Cyprus (having been busted in Stafford UK) and also we use a payment system used by scammers, like General Mugu. Thank you for your money – fingers crossed you may see your tablets sometime this year.
    ============================

By the way Anne, I didnt feel intimitated by “Mugu”, I just wanted what it was, I now know – and have seen a similar troll (maybe the same) on other messsage boards like Ebay Community boards taking the mickey out of people who have been scammed there as well.

  27. Anne Tay says:

Hi Mike …as far as JO is concerned i have never heard of him or her ,before ,and i can assure you we are not taking the Mickey .we dont even know who Magu is …now i could say they are taking the Mickey out of me …but i can take a joke .and i can see from one part of your post ..you do have a sense of humour too …i have had no answer from Jess ,but as soon as i do i will post ….but i do resent the fact you still think we are rather i am a scammer ,as a matter of fact i was wondering about Jo ,as its the first time they have posted …..Mike we are sorry for what has been done .but i can say in all honesty i do not work for Pharma or Medica…….and you may get your tablets ,you never said how long you have been waiting on your order …

  28. Jo says:

I must say that I have had really excellent service previously from Pharma 2u, Medica 2u and Pharma2u in May (they were spot on). So I am keeping positive! Coprox is far too precious and if eventually it necessitates a trip to Cyprus, hey so be it 🙂

  29. Anne Tay says:

COME ON GUY’S HELP ME OUT HERE ….MAGU WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TOO ON OTHER SITES ? YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD REPEATEDLY NOT TO WONDER ….YOU NAUGHTY MAN…PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU NOW …

  30. Anne Tay says:

WELL JO ,we will take your word for that ….over and out

  31. Anne Tay says:

sorry for the spelling..of wonder should have been wander plus too should have been to …im of to have a nervous breakdown…i do believe i deserve one …phone my work and tell them nurse Tay is other wise engaged …

  32. Jo says:

Yes, it is the first time I have posted but I have been reading D4D for a while, and it is like joining in someone else’s conversation… anyway I have been reading since I started buying from Pharma2u. Co Prox is my mother in laws pure salvation, she is 80 this year, and has taken 8 a day for years, then they stopped letting her have this and have since given her morphine patches which she hates, she has chronic back pain and Co Prox is the only thing that touches it – so I read anything that gives us some positive news on coprox; I joined in the conversation purely because I’m in a sim situation, and I will keep u posted…

  33. Mike Smith says:

Anne, I am sorry to have offended you. Thats not my intention. You did however offend my when you referred to me as a “fly in the ointment”. You were good enough to apologise for that, so I am happy to apologise to you for inferring you’re a scammer.

As for Magu. It is funny, I will grant you that – and yes I do have a sense of humour. You will I hope understand that being relieved of £100 by a website I had good reason to trust makes the joke just a little thin on this occasion.

Jo, like you , I had a great experience with pharma2u, but with prescribe4u its totally different. Like you, I couldnt care less where the tabs come from – as long as they do come!

Anyway, they may turn up they may not. But the FAQ stuff on their delivery times should be changed NOW!

I still think Ive been scammed – but never say never.

  34. Anne Tay says:

Hi Mike ..well Jess got back to me ,she never heard of you ..fair enough Mike Smith is not you’re name ,so i have asked her to let me know where people can safely send emails and purchase medication…i will get back to you ..ok. ps, please dont post your real name on here or any information regarding your order ….Anne

  35. Anne Tay says:

Mike ..you never said how long you have been waiting for this order ..i have waited as long as a month ….but then that was last year ….people on this site have done the same ..

  36. Anne Tay says:

Hi Jo ..can you explain the payment system CNY please ?never heard of it

  37. Anne Tay says:

Hi Mike …if you can bring yourself to trust us ….what you could do is give your name to Chris ..scroll down to post 466..and we will try and help by getting back in touch with Jess …Anne

  38. Russ McLean says:

    Hi Mike,

The General Magu thing is unique to this site. It isn’t a troll, but an effort to bring a little light relief and raprochement at times when we all get a little bit grumpy.

When you first posted there was, with all due respect, a hint of Victor Meldrew about your posting, and I suspect you are wholly justified in being less than temperate. Primarily because like many of us, you are living in untreated, or undertreated pain, and secondly because of the apparent lacklustre response to your hundred quid and non fulfillment of order.

At this very moment, there is a thoroughly decent lady going through hell in the UK courts because she was allegedly involved in the UK side of things. From what I understand she was normally based in Cyprus where they do have a Cypriot doctor sign off a prescription after the standard questions were asked on the pharma2u website. When she visited the UK she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know this for fact. I also post under my actual name, so you can check out who I am if you doubt my words on this.

The same people that ran pharma2u are running prescribe4u, but they took a big hit with the MHRA; their confidence has been knocked severely. Would you risk 14 years in jail to supply what may appear a bunch of UK ingrates needing coprox because of MHRA failure?

As I understand it, there is a problem with the payment system to Cyprus. The authorities have kyboshed the earlier system, and a new one is being sorted out.

They are certainly not scammers. Just trying their best in horrendous circumstances. If you email Chris and Anne, I am sure they can help get this sorted out.

    Very best regards,

    Russ

  39. Anne Tay says:

    Thanks Russ …well said…

  40. Jo says:

Thanks to Russ, well said & explained, it’s good to know the facts. And I thoroughly appreciate this site and all that post on it, it does give me and my mother in law some sort of satisfaction (if that is the right word) that others are going through similar. Coprox is her lifeline.
Hi Anne, probably my CNY wasn’t well explained, the ref on my bank statement is:
http://WWW.CTOPAY.CC-YH-VISA. The CN was on the next line down with a number that I didn’t recognise.
Yesterday I received an email from medica2u ssying that my order had been despatched. The parcel number correlated with a previous parcel number (yes i am sad but I save the jiffy bags for future use!), in that it looks like it’s been sent in a similar vein to previous parcels.
Again thanks the post Russ, and Anne I am sorry if my previous posting have looked suss hope I have not offended..

  41. Anne Tay says:

Hi Jo ,no offence taken ,so i guess this is the new payment system ,iv never heard of it
    thanks Jo…..

  42. Mike Smith says:

    Hi Russ, Anne & Co

Firstly thank you for your comments and such a detailed description of whats going on. Lets get something straight here. I found the people at Pharma2u great and when I heard about the raid (I saw it on TV one night) I was gutted. Not just for the fact that this was obviously going to hit supplies but also because the people I had spoken to at Pharma are clearly nice folk. Russ, it should be said that whilst they are doing us a great service, they are not doing it for free and will be making a stonking profit on these tablets. Especially the Tamiflu they are now selling on the back of worldwide fear.

Anyway, Anne, I would like to thank you. Yesterday I received an email from Jess. I have no doubt at all that your intervention on my behalf made that happen. The email has explained various problems and promised delivery of my order. I had promised that I would come back here and post if I either had contact or the tablets. So, in the interests of complete fairness, here I am.

So Anne, thanks. Still no tabs, but I feel much more hopeful now that they may come and I have you to thank for that.

Russ, I have taken on board what you have said and may I say how well you put it. I totally accept that the guys and gals at Pharma2u Medica Prescribe etc 🙂 do a great service and quite frankly the MHRA can go f*** themselves for all I care. They are however doing this FOR PROFIT and whilst theres nothing wrong with that, it does mean that they are not angels. Anyway, I am no angel either – so thats life!

If / When the tablets arrive I will immediately come here and post that they have. I am a fair and decent man and I will always give credit where credit is due and Im not afraid to admit Ive got something wrong if that turns out to be the case.

I do however think that whatever happens, it would be a very good idea if Jess and her colleagues put the truth about the various problems with payment / delivery on the website so that people could make informed choices.

Anyway, my fingers are aching now lol so Russ, I will leave you with this. Mugu does do the rounds… He’s not just the property of D4D 😉 http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?messageID=1106308056&forumID=7#1106308056

  43. Anne Tay says:

Mike …thats not our Magu ,he dont have long blonde hair and a whip …thats me ,oops i let slip my weekend job

  44. Anne Tay says:

our Magu models for Nuts and Zoo magazines…sure you do Magu .so he belongs to us and only us …

  45. Anne Tay says:

Mike ..you do come over as a very bitter man …shame

  46. Anne Tay says:

Hey Chris ..did you have look at the site Mike put up …our Magu would never go on that site ,would he ? i mean he is General Magu after all ,,and a male model ,no you got it wrong Mike

  47. Mike Smith says:

Anne, where on earth did that “bitter man” comment come from? What have I said thats bitter? I thanked you for gawd sake. Did you mis read / mis understand my last post?

Anyway, i’ll keep reading but totally amazed by that comment. A simple “thank you” would have sufficed!

  48. Mike Smith says:

    Hello again.

As promised, I have popped back to confirm that the tablets have finally arrived.

Once I was able to contact Jess things got sorted and Anne, that seems to be thanks to you. So Im not bitter, Im grateful (Still cant for the life of me work out why you said that)

Anyway, in the interests of fairness I wanted to let everyone know that I seem to have been hasty in calling Prescribe4u scammers and I now retract that comment. I was wrong.

Yes. communications leave a bit to be desired, but as we got there in the end, no harm done I guess.

Prescribe2u / medica2u is SAFE to shop at. Just bear in mind delivery times to vary greatly and their email system does not seem to work as they use gmail addresses.

I now have contact details for them and would be happy to do what Anne did for me if anyone needs help with contacting them. I wont put any contact details on here though.

By the way – you’ll love this. My doctor told me yesterday that he can now prescribe co-prox on a named patient basis. So, I could have got them for £7 (ish) if Id waited. That’ll teach me! Doooohhhhhhh !!!!!!

  49. Anne Tay says:

Sorry Mike ,i dont deal thru gmail …i have my own way ,most people on here know the gmail system ..its old rope to us now ..lol it must have been hard to swollow your words ….but then you have a great sense of humour ..yea . thanks for the reply

  50. Russ McLean says:

    Hi Mike,

That is very decent of you to reply and honourable as well.

I cannot speak for Anne, but I would say we are all on this site because we are left in pain. We are all on the same side. I would think Anne might have just been a little grumpy because of discomfort and worry. I know I am.

Though I reserve my anger, and action, for direction against the incompetence of the MHRA. They are dangerous idiots. This is fact. the latest document I have from them under Freedom of Information Act laws is a report they commissioned on how the coproxamol ban has gone. The MHRA report says in 2004 there were 835,000,000 prescriptions for coproxamol, and this was reduced because of MHRA action to 121,000,000 in 2007. That is enough to kill every man woman and child in the UK. Just goes to show that the MHRA can’t even work a calculator let olone their lone brain cell.

    Very best regards,

    Russ.

P.S.. Thankyou for keeping it up and running Lyle.
