Co-proxamol

Interesting to see today that the painkiller co-proxamol is to be scrapped. Apparently it’s been linked with up to 400 deaths per year and a study found it was the second biggest method of drug-related suicide in the UK, accounting for almost one in five deaths.

I’ve used co-proxamol before, and I can see why it’s easy to overdose on, either intentionally or accidentally. It’s a seriously heavy gun in the world of painkillers, and while it’s sad to see something so effective be withdrawn from the market, I can understand the reasons why it’s necessary to do so.

    Russ said quote:
The MHRA is almost entirely funded by drug companies. NOT the NHS, NOR Government. The MHRA

Well why that doesn’t surprise me! I always knew this co-prox fiasco was more about money that anything else…..go figure

Anyway hope everyone is managing to ‘get theirs’ if you pardon the expression lol

Love and good health to all

Thank you Andrea, when I ticked all the boxes and went to the pay box it said, this site is not available, go back, which I did with no result. My email to cs@reasontopay.com, where I was advised to enquire about the fault, bounced back.
My husband agrees with Twinkle, there is a different reason for stopping the pill than the one given and you can bet it will be about money.

  3. Anne Tay says:

    Yes Barbara ….how true , i am a nurse more i could say but can’t ….

  4. Barbara Steward says:

Thanks Anne, Firefox worked where I had been using Safari. Now will wait on tenterhooks to see if the Destirol turns up.
Before I discovered Coprox I used to miss out on so many outings, ruin so many holidays and all I need is one pill, it is magic, a 3 day nightmare of migraine is just blocked and I can get on with my life. Its seems so cruel to stop this painkiller and I dread to think of what folks with bone pain go through. I wonder if the Human Rights act would help restore this medication?

  5. Anne Tay says:

I think Russ is the man to answer all you’re questions on things like that ….see we have a man for everything here ……and women of course..

  6. selina says:

  10. Russ McLean says:

Just in case anyone is not yet tuned in (and with Lyles permission) might I introduce the Save The Coproxamol Forum…..

    http://www.phpbbserver.com/weaim4success/viewforum.php?f=5&start=0&mforum=weaim4success&mforum=weaim4success&subfolder=1&sid=380d917a19ed39adcbaea27b36964f31&mforum=weaim4success

I am just aff to post a reciprocal message on that forum pointing to the D4D forum. The more we, untreated pains in the ar$es get together, then the more we know, and the sooner the MHRA go down.

    Best regards,

    Russ

Here is the official link showing the utter FAILURE of the MHRA plan to reduce Coproxamol suicides…….

    http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmhansrd/cm081211/text/81211w0001.htm

The year/date tabulation is misleading, but once you correct the order, it proves beyond doubt that the MHRA has got it wrong on so very many levels. That there main point of reducing Coproxamol suicides is blown out of the water.

Am now of to the printers to have several hundred Freedom of Information letters prepared for HM Coroners and Procurator’s Fiscal (Scottish Coroner) to delicately find out the human cost behind these Coproxamol suicides and establish if we can pin criminal charges or European Court of Human Rights against culpable MHRA officials.

  12. Anne Tay says:

    Good luck Russ …

  13. cathy chandler says:

can anyone please tell me if they have had any luck with selena an russ i will join yor campain

  14. Chris says:

Cathy, I know of at least 3 people who have dealt with Selina and have had no problems. There are probably many more that have done so but would be reluctant to reveal themselves. If there was a problem it would have been flagged up by now.

  15. Nigel AKA Pill Popper says:

yes Selina is the real deal

  16. Nigel AKA Pill Popper says:

I know of many forums supporing co proxamol, shouldnt that alone merrit its come back?

  17. Nigel AKA Pill Popper says:

OMG i have just lit my giggertte the wrong end, spelled supporting wrong (as above) and spilled tea down my top. all in one minute, “sel a vie” as they say in French, or “sods law” as we say in English.

  18. Anne Tay says:

Hi Nig ..long time no hear ,how are you ?get off them giggertte’s lol…

  19. Barbara Steward says:

Hi Folks, My Husband read am magazine and it had an article in saying ‘Which Magazine’ is trying to ban on line medication buying. Have they never been in pain?
How can they dare to judge.

  20. lyle says:

We’ll gloss over the mis-spell of merit, and the missing apostrophe key… 🙂

  21. Barbara Steward says:

Have joined the Forum Russ, re~: your link and also looked at the coprox suicide figures.
While suicide is a tragic happening those figures to a 60 million population are miniscule and couldn’t possibly be the true reason for withdrawing this drug. I feel so sorry for arthritis sufferers who have bone all over their bodies and nothing else works.
This alone could cause more suicides than then ever before when these folks have no sure remedy to stop their agony.
Doctors will end up having no pills to prescribe with all the limitations.

  22. Barbara Steward says:

PS, that should read bone pain.

  23. cathy chandler says:

hi chris thanks for your answer i was thinking that myself do you know how to order from selena then please

hi chris its cathy again just tried it an it just comes back nknown god im in so much pain if i was able to fly id book a flight just to get some lol an thats comin from someone who has neva flown in my life

  27. Barbara Steward says:

Cathy you have my heartfelt sympathy, I wonder if the guy that stopped Coprox is ever in such pain he shakes, as I do with migraine.
This whole fiasco of us having to go abroad for medication is a disgrace.
I am awaiting my first order and hoping it arrives.
As a last resort I take 500mg max dose Codis
and a cool strip for forehead if its head pain. Not as effective as coprox but stops you crying!

  28. Chris says:

Hi cathy, i have just e-mailed her, i will see if it bounces back. Prescribe4u are selling this item but i don’t know how easy it is to order from there at the moment.

  29. Barbara Steward says:

Hi Chris, I have ordered from there (Prescribe4u) but found I had to use Firefox on my applemac, Safari would only let me go so far on their system.
I am awaiting my pills ordered a few days ago, fingers crossed.

  30. Chris says:

Cathy, I have just received a reply from Selina, the only difference in her reply was the smcctw part was in uppercase, try that.

  31. Chris says:

Hi Barbara, thanks for the info, I also use Firefox thats good. I am sure you will receive them.

  32. Barbara Steward says:

I also did a ‘testing’ email to Selina and got a “I have received’ etc.
    Is she a pharmarceutical supplier?
I was wary about ordering from Pharma4u but the postings on here reassured me.

  33. Chris says:

Barbara. I do not know, but it is a route for some especially with the problems of late with P2u.

  34. Nigel AKA Pill Popper says:

Hi Anne, i realy should quit the smokes, since i have diabetes, with chronic nerve pain, co prox gives me the relieve other pain killers cannot with out the horrible side effects, hope you enjoyed your holidays, i wonder if co proxamol will ever come back on the market Anne? and Lyle thanks for turning a blind eye to my bad grammer and miss spelling, and the missing apostrophy in merit.

  35. Anne Tay says:

We can but try Nig..we can but try ..one way or tother ….

  36. cathy chandler says:

thanks chris and barbra i will try now althou my time is limited due to having a brain damaged brother in a nursing home an having to attend lots of meetings how i could do with someething for my pain

  37. cathy chandler says:

no luck am i jus plain stupid chris

  38. Chris says:

Cathy, i don’t know what to say, i presume you are opening your e-mail program and typing in the address for a new e-mail, if yes it should work. Unfortunately i am not a very tech minded person, anybody else with advice?

  39. Chris says:

Cathy, you could e-mail me, my address is listed at post no.466 i would then forward your mail address to Selina. Just an idea. If you don’t get through to me then you do have a problem.

  40. cathy chandler says:

hi chris thanks love i am about to go to the number you gave me hope you can help

  41. cathy chandler says:

well here i go tryuing to e mail you lol

  42. Chris says:

    Cathy, Message Received.

  43. Roge says:

    Hi Barbara
ref. post 549 migrane, have you tried Migraleve Tablets? Migraleve Pink Tablets for the onset of migraine and Migraleve Yellow Tablets if the migraine persists, these can be purchased from pharmacies, however they can also be obtained on prescrition from your GP. Hope this is of help.

  44. Barbara Steward says:

Hi Roger, I get such bad reactions with meds that I am very reluctant to try anything new.
Coprox has no side effects with me, a rarity.
    Still no tabs from Pharma4u.
I am also allergic to alcohol!
The complications the withdrawal of Corprox have caused must be considerable.

  45. Barbara Steward says:

Got pack of Destirol today from Pharma4u.
They seem to have identical ingredients as Coprox,
    Dextropropxyphene Hydrochloride 32.5mg
    Paracetamol BP 325 mg

  46. Paul says:

Barbara, Is that Prescribe4u.com that youve ordered from?? Pharma2u were fine (maybe a little late with deliveries) until that bloody raid a few months back. Prescibe4u certainly looks the same and my old username and password worked on their site. So have your tabs come from them – and if so, that gives me hope i may get mine.

  47. Russ McLean says:

    Oh Bu66er it.

Just when I had Alan Johnson, the Health Secretary on a knife edge with regard to his conduct on forcing the MHRA to sort out the “Named Patient” coproxamol mess, he so6d off to the Home Office.

Still though, his sins will eventually find him out. He has joint culpability in leaving people without medication to live and die in untreated pain.

Methinks these Members of Pigliament will have more to worry about than dodgy expense claims once all of this inhumanity comes out.

  48. Barbara Steward says:

Paul, I received Destirol from Prescribe4u.com Online Pharmacy, it took approx 10 days.
I haven’t needed to try them yet.
This site http://www.deardenise.com/ has a discussion started on Coproxamol as Denise Robertson’s hubby used to take them for back pain. Anybody can add to it, the more publicity the better.

  49. Barbara Steward says:

On the Dailymail site, online, today, there is comments about Poundland selling multiple packs of paracetamol, I have added a comment about Coprox too.
Another opportunity to air the subject and easy to put readers comments on the site.
